Around the Café
A café near Fuente Osmeña: up the street, up the stairs
Fuente Osmeña is where Cebu City converges. The circle itself, the hotels around it, the hospitals, the offices, the jeepneys doing their loops. If you spend any real time in this part of town, you eventually go looking for a place to sit that isn't a lobby, a canteen, or a fast-food counter. That search is exactly why we opened where we did.
We're on Juana Osmeña Street, a short walk from the circle, on the 2nd floor of Hotel One. Come up the stairs and the street noise mostly stays downstairs. That's the whole trick of the location: close enough to walk from Fuente, far enough up to feel like you left it.
Why this neighborhood needed a café like this
Days around Fuente run on odd clocks. Hotel breakfasts end at ten. Hospital visits stretch past every mealtime you planned. Meetings land at three in the afternoon when nobody has eaten properly. So we built the café around two things: we open at 6:00am every single day and we serve breakfast all day until we close at 10pm. Whatever hour your day actually starts, there's a full plate and fresh coffee waiting, not a countdown to a menu change.
We wrote more about the early opening in the 6am post, but the short version stands: the first hour of the morning here is the quietest, best version of the room.
Close enough to walk from the circle. Far enough up the stairs to feel like you left it.
Stay twenty minutes or the whole afternoon
Some people come up for a quick coffee between errands. Others open a laptop and settle in; there's free wifi and outlets, and nobody is going to rush you out of your seat. We covered that side of the café in the work-from-here post. If you're the kind who brings a dog along on errands, they're welcome upstairs too, and our resident café dog Amber will handle the introductions. You can look through the full menu here before you come, though the honest recommendation is coffee plus anything off the breakfast list.
For groups, not just solo chairs
Because of where we sit, we get a lot of small groups: families gathering around one table, officemates escaping the building, friends meeting halfway across the city because Fuente is halfway to everywhere. If that's you, reserve a table ahead and tell us how many you are. For bigger occasions we have a private room and workshop options, from cake painting sessions to grazing tables, all bookable through the same form.
Open every day, 6:00am to 10:00pm, at the 2nd floor of Hotel One, Juana Osmeña St. Walking from the circle, just head up Juana Osmeña and look for Hotel One.
Halfway to everywhere
Next time you're around Fuente Osmeña with an hour to spend, come up the stairs. Coffee's fresh from 6am.
